Researching music logos and what they represent!

In this lesson I am going to be researching different bands logo’s again as I have decided that the more I look at during my researching time, the more ideas I can get for making my own logo, because I haven't got a clue as of what I want to do yet.

 

 

The first logo I am going to be looking at is the band “Oasis” logo, I decided to use this one as they are a big well known band, but they have a simple logo which makes stand out, well to me anyway. For example they use slanted looking letter’s, not all the way slanted, but slightly this could give us an idea that they are a laid-back type of band who produce music when they want because it’s relaxing and that’s the impression I get off this band just from looking at the logo they have used. They have also only used two colours, one of the colours being the colour white and the other colour being black. White being used could mean that this band is clean, pure and relaxing as that’s how the logo back it look, the colour black usually represents ‘sleet’ and elegant but it could also say that there is a darker side to the music that “Oasis” produce and sing as a group, so you could see that point from two different ways.

The next band logo I am going to be talking about is the band logo for Paramore. I think the band logo for paramour tells us a lot about the band actually. I believe this colour which is mostly black signifies that this band is elegant but could be seen as “dark” as they are a rock/pop type of band compared to some other bands. I think the boldness really shows us that this band want’s to stand out from any other bands that is put into the same category as them. I also think that this band stand’s out because the title of the band for the logo is all in lower case letters which could show, well in my opinion that they aren’t big headed and don’t want to be known straight away, because it’s not in capitals. However, I also get the feeling at the “.” Used could try and make us remember the band.

 

I’ve decided to use a band I haven’t heard of before, this band is called “Ramones”. I’ve decided to use this one because I don’t know what type of music they produce but from the logo I’m trying to think of what they stand for. Using the colours black and white again, mean’s this band called be slightly old-fashioned, but they also could be elegant. I think the black and white colours could also mean this band has got to do with rock and I say this because most bands who are some type of rock us these colours to make them stand out. I think the circle around the image and names could show that this bands want’s too big and wants to be “the centre of attention” hence why I believe they have put a circle around their “main part” of their logo.  The name’s that are written aren’t really that important and I say that because it doesn’t show us anything about the band apart from what their names are, which a logo doesn’t really have to show anyway. However the image of the logo in the middle shows a big stick, which could show this band are strong at what they do. This image in the centre of the logo also has arrows that are pointing upwards, this could show that they only way this band wants to go is up, and nothing’s going to stop them, hence why their isn’t nothing above the arrows. I’m not sure, but the leaf looking thing in the image’s right food, looks to be some sort of leaf? Maybe a clover? This could show that they are lucky to be doing what they do best and it’s lucky that are doing such a thing like this.
