The Wayne Rooney 2006 banned poster?

[1] How is the english football and England football fans represented?[aim for 200 words] I believe that the england football club and england football team are being presented as, strong, angry, powerful. I also believe that this image that is presented makes the england football and england football fans look furious which gives me the impression that it is making the england team look scary, when it reality they aren't at all. I also believe that the england football fans and team are being presented as fighters, however being presented as a fighter can be seen in two different lights, one things that could be taken from this is that a fighter might be willing to battle for their team, however because of the colour red used on Wayne Rooneys body, it could symbolise pain and the red might stand for danger. I believe that the image is displaying the England Football team and fans to be loud, fierce, angry but also a powerful team and a powerful fan club behind it. So, in some aspects you could say that the fans of the England football team and the football fans could be see as good, as they are a powerful team together, however then again, you could also say this is displaying them as bad, because of how angry, scary, and with the red paint, that could look like 'blood' how nasty they are to other teams sometimes.

[2] Why do you think this advert was banned? [ Aim for 200]
I believe that this advert was banned because of the message it sends across. By using the red paint, that could symbolise blood as it's all over his body. This could symbolise pain, and that England bring pain to others, and this is one reason, I believe that the advert was banned. Another reason on why I believe the advert might be banned is because of the way Wayne Rooney, is standing. People of a certain religon might find it offensive that he is basically taking the mick out of their religon but standing in a certain way. This could offend a lot of people, as a lot of people are religious so this is another reason on why the advert could of been banned, because of the stance Wayne Rooney is in. The red paint, painted over Wayne Rooneys body is also in a "St George" position over his chest. For some reason, people could find this offensive because of the way the flag is being represented this is another reason why the advert could of been banned. I believe the main reason for this advert being banned is that people found it offensive. I believe most people found it offensive because of his body language.

[3] What ideologies are represented in this text?[consider issues surrounding masculinity; Engishness; footballers?] I'm not really sure on what this text is asking of me, however I am going to have a go and answer it, however if it turns out the be wrong then I will re-do it at a later date. I think they have used a man, who is a sporting hero in good shape because I think would appeal to both women and men as a man who likes football, will relate him to that, however some women may find Wayne Rooney attractive, so i believe that they are trying to relate this advert for both men and women. As Wayne Rooney is quiet a masculine character, I believe that they are trying to present that he is a dominant man, this being shown through the body lanuage and the facial expression that Wayne Rooney is pulling. I believe they have used the ideologie of "England" is this advert as well. I believe that they are in some what way trying to do this because, they have used the St Georges flag over Wayne Rooneys body. The St George flag  obviously people would represent with England. His is also a English Football player, so this is also shown through the picture because it all links down to what team he plays for, and where he's actually from. I believe that they have done this because it's trying to represent England in somewhat way with the flag over him(well painted on him) and also they team he actually plays for. Another ideologie that is represented in the picture is somewhat linked with football. I believe this because obviously the main person in the picture, is a star football player whom so people may look up too, another reason people may link this picture with football is because of the stance Wayne Rooney is actually in, as he look's like some of his fans when England score a goal, so I believe just because of the way he is standing, and his face could seem like he is cheering, that this could also be linked with football, as some football fans, including england supporters do actually act like that when England are playing a match against another team.

[4] Why do you think Nike selected this image? - What was their intentions?
I believe that Nike would of selected this image because they knew that some people would see the good in it, as they have used a famous sports star- footballer, who is well known to England called Wayne Rooney, whom some may see as a 'hero'? I believe that some people would see the cross over his belly would say that it 'symbolises the flag' and could see that as a good thing as well. But the main reason I believe that Nike selected this image is because they knew it would get some attention overall, whether it would be good or bad attention, because if someone said they used 'Rooney' which could be seen as a good thing, people will look at it. If someone said something bad about it, so for example the 'christ-like-stance' that Wayne Rooney is standing in. People are also going to look at it, so the main reason I believe that the image was selected by Nike is that they knew people would look at it and people would draw their attention to it, wether it would be attention or bad attention.
